Critical Mass

Sprouted three seeds
Got three females.
Day 31 of flower.
2 are same same in smell, CM (A) and CM (C). More Afghani influence I think.
The one I am calling CM (B) smells very good indeed.
Smells similar to a Shit I have flowering at the moment, but even stronger and sweeter.
Also has the biggest colas at this stage and was the first to show roots as a clone.
Photos to follow when they fill out a bit more.
I will also do reports on the NHS and two Cures that started flowering at the same time a bit further down the track.
They have all been a bit slow to get going as I potted them up on day 1 of flower, which was probably a mistake.
Fingers crossed and God willing, they should all pull through, maybe a touch late though.

Good luck Uncle Jack, looking forward to see your girls.🍀

I have done this many times in the past, works great for me.
I saw usually a bigger stretch but very good overal health.
One thing you must not do is give them to much water after transplant if the size difference to the new pots is great.
They don't have the root system yet to take that water up fast enough.

Had a little pollen fly from one of the Critical Mass girls so a bit of seed but only very light.
I forgot to prune the lower branches when I should have.
Attributing that to low light, stress induced.
Grower error.

Thanks for the well wishes @Swifty .
They are turning the corner now.
The soil mix I used to pot up was a little hot for them as well I suspect.
I didn't have time to let it work.
Or should I be honest and say, I was too lazy to prepare the soil in advance?

On a side note, I almost feel a bit ashamed posting my indoor pics.
Especially when I look at the results some others are getting with their indoor setups.

But then again, it's all educational and it's a good way of charting progress.

Nobody should feel ashamed to post their grows on this forum. Every grow report is a valuable contribution to make this place special.

Your plants look great and I love the variaties you are growing (y)

Great job

Beautifull plants Uncle Jack, growing can be challenging at times but so rewarding in the end.
Please post your plants futher, you have a very nice selection and I'm always up for learning from other growers and see how they do things.
That is wat makes us better in the end afterall.

Any special smell coming from your ladies?

The smell is gradually building up Swifty.
It's a bit too soon to be saying anything definitive yet,
however, the two Cure plants (very different) and the MKS/Skunk are showing promising early signs.
I have another MKS/Skunk that I have run a few times and it really stinks the house out when drying.
It has also become my favored stash.
One of the Critical Mass girls has it all in the smell department. 10/10
One of the other CM's is a less pronounced version of the first and the third one is less pronounced again but still similar.
Without the wow factor though.
Nothing grassy or negative to report all winners so far.
Very impressed with The Cure.
One is going to be a big yielder and smells for lack of a better term old school.
It also has the oily/greasy feel i like my bud to have.
The bad news is it wouldn't clone for me.
I got multiple clones of everything else but this one wouldn't take root.
Looks like I will be doing some re-vegging.
Pretty sure I will want to keep her.

Your nl5/haze looks also promising to me, very good trich density.
The NL5/Haze is on set and forget.
I have taken the advice of more experienced breeders and growers here.
Which was to 'tie it to the wall and forget it.'
It has wonderful terpenes,
but for one reason or another I have always cut her down prematurely.
So this time we are in for the long haul.
The smell is like walking into a lolly shop, very sweet.

Update - Flowering under a 300w LED. So they may take a little longer to finish

You will have to forgive the dead fungus gnats and dog and human hairs. They come with the territory.

All's looking stellar.
I wouldn't of expected bubblegum aromas from MKS, interesting..

Thanks Ray.

I get a bit excited about certain aromas.

This is the first time I have run this MKS/Skunk (D) so the smell may head back towards the other one yet.
I have read the terpenes are fairly uniform in this strain.

Maybe we should allow for the fact that in my my natural exuberance I may have opened up neural pathways where they should not be open.
Smells can be very subjective as we know, so don't quote me just yet.
Lets just see how she develops.
In the last few days I have noticed the smell changing a little.
More hash notes.

Another thing is I have to smell this one last as once I have smelled it I can't smell the others properly, it's that overpowering.
In doing this I may be mixing things up a bit with what came previously.

Need a way of resetting the old sniffer.

Need a way of resetting the old sniffer
I wondered about this also and some fellow members gave me some good tips on this:

Coffee Beans have been used for many moons for this :)
"... coffee beans don’t really “reset” your ability to smell. They merely change what we are used to smelling.
... By changing what you are smelling, you keep your nose from becoming desensitized. Coffee beans do this. But so would a lemon, lime, orange, and other things. This effect isn’t unique to coffee beans alone."

If you want to reset your palates the best way to deal with olfactory fatigue is to simply smell your own skin. Perfumers will sniff the crook of their elbows when necessary. I tried this and it seems to work. I then smelled my pits after a night of peyote--- uh, that was a reset for sure :ROFLMAO:

From @Islandgrower earlier thread:

mu
Many years ago I used to sell perfume, and one of the tricks we were always told was to have a cup of roasted coffee beans. Supposedly if you smell the coffee beans between each perfume, it reset your sense of smell. Not sure how true it is, but might be worth doing to "reset" your nose!

Edit: I realise this was actually discussed on page 11!

Any chance of a smoke report @Swifty ? :)

Hope it helps.
