Black Widow Grow 2020

Hiya

When I first started getting stoned, I immediately wanted to grow my own supply. I jumped online (early 2000's) and white widow was the first strain you would see advertised. I never did get to grow it.. until now! I am dying to see what these old school genetics are capable of. Cant believe I am growing the real deal!! I bought 22 or so strains on the auction site this summer...WHOOPS!! :ROFLMAO:

I started 3 seeds, among others, and ended up with 2 females, currently at day 19/20 of flower. They are growing in a 4x4 tent with 2 plants of another variety. The light is a growers choice 315w ceramic metal halide and the nutrients are blue planet farmers pride. Watering and feeding daily in 2 gallon pots. 1 plant is tall, the other is medium height. Both seemed to be taking their time forming bud sites, but now are catching up quickly.

I only have lousy pictures so far, but will keep this thread updated with some nicer shots when things are getting interesting. It is almost time to start new seeds, and I'm definitely considering more Mr. Nice. I do also have clones of both plants.

Anyways, wish me luck. Catch ya later!!

yoyoyoyo! it has only been a couple days, but I figure I will try to get weekly updates happening. There are not many recent grow logs for Mr. Nice seeds and I am determined to change that starting now!!

We are at day 21. The main top on the taller of the two plants continues to stretch... I may tie it down a little bit because these main tops are closer to the light than I prefer. I did not really do any training this grow, because I decided to go back to the basics and try to get my water and nutrients dialed in. Once I am happy with that, I will start getting into various techniques again.

The first plant is Black Widow 3. The second is Black Widow 1. The last pic is the whole tent which includes my other two plants. Head Dog x Mad Max by Heroes of the Farm. Next pics will be at day 28 hopefully with the nice camera!

Looking really good.
Have they stretched much in flowering?
TF
Thanks a lot! Yes, they have stretched A LOT in flower. They must be 4-5x the size they were when I switched to 12/12.. big difference every day. They are more of a Christmas tree shaped plant than a bush structure. The main tops grow prob 18-24" above the lower bud sites. In the future I will definitely top this strain very shortly before flower, or I'm also thinking it would also be an excellent scrog plant. 🤟

Hey gang. Day 31 here with some pictures. Starting to see some resin developing now.

Look fantastic! Any more pics?
Thank you, I am loving these. Yes, I do have an update actually! Today is day 42 of flower and these plants are doing awesome. One of them is especially unique (the spear shape) - I have never grown another plant like it. I was hoping they would finish around 70 days, but I definitely feel that they may take a longer than that. That is ok.. I'm not going anywhere :) Here are a couple pictures. I will be sure to keep this thread alive!

It's quite a complement to have the founder give you the nod of approval! That first pic really has the "white" coming through on it. When I grew it back in 2009 I was disappointed that mine didn't get the "white" look. But no worries because it was some of the best stuff I've grown. The power if the medicine was incredible especially when I used it in cooking.

I'll say!! I have endless respect for his contributions to this plant and what he has done with/for CBD. I'm grateful they still make these genetics available at a time that the market is flooded with Girl Scout cookies hybrids. And yea, earlier in flower I was a little concerned that I wasn't seeing much resin yet compared to the other 2 plants I am growing, but the black widows are now completely catching up on resin and bud production. The may not quite have the leaves coated as much as some of todays strains, but the buds sure are, and this is very good for a 25 year old hybrid. Grab some more from the auction site and give em another try, I'd say!
