And a time to every purpose under heaven

Aloha Fellow Firewalkers!

It is time to replenish the medicine cabinet with Indie stock! It is also time for me to select another Ortega male for some upcoming projects. And lastly, time to redeem myself as the last CM and Ortega grow was subpar. It was a grow that included Mango Widow. The major failure of the grow wasn’t because of genetics, it was due to lack of care.

We have all had grows that were interrupted for one reason or another. Take my lower back for instance…

The plants suffered the wrath of the four horseman; PM, mites, lack of water and nutrients, excessive heat. And yet, they still came through albeit in smaller yield with diminished potency.

While it may appear a disaster, there were glimmers of light. I did manage to isolate the Ortega males before I went down. In the passel, one magnificent stud emerged. He fertilized an ACDC and a Strawberry Banana. Everything died and went to seed during my convalescence.

So here we are today, looking forward to full expression in this grow and confident my yield will improve.

I am always amazed at how those tiny CM seeds turn out

Pictures of my Ortega/ACDC I have growing alongside will come later. I've named this cross "Nursie" after a Jethro Tull song.

"Tip-toes in silence `round my bed
and quiets the raindrops overhead.
With her everlasting smile
She stills my fever for a while.
Oh, nursie dear,
I'm glad you're here
to brush away my pain"

Hey bradah Musashi, its good to see you posting up a new log :):) will rent a chair on the first row :D

those MNS genetics are strong! they can handle some beating for sure. And we all have been there , multiple times ;)

It will be easy peasy for you brother :) we just keep reminding you off those monster NevHaze that says it all. ;)

i`m Curious what will come out of your own crosses. Keep it green and take it easy bro.

Aloha Tom!

Bring it on brah! We can all use your perspective. I decided to post here instead of CM bc there are not enough threads going on here for what is arguably an excellent medicine. You say you are at 35 days, is that flower or? And yes, I don't think any of us can get enuf bud porn so please bring the pics soon!

Aloha braddahs!

Don't you hombres have anything better to do than to grow ganja and obsess on bud pics? Oh, wait, we're on lockdown, carry on :D

To answer Tom's question, the grow will have several objectives; to grow MNS medicine, to find additional Ortega males, to seed a select group of my crosses with those males, and finally to seed existing crosses to generate f2's from my existing males. I need more room! This will be an indoor soil grow in 5 gal. pots under 2x600w MH+MH and then HPS+MH. I will supplement with a cheap 1200w chicom LED on the sides. Longer veg time before flowering. I plan to feed them aggressively until the last few weeks, taper, then give a minimum 10-14 day flush. I know I should change out those old bulbs ;)

I wasn't planning a full blown journal as there are already many threads on the Indie side with contributions made by excellent growers; better growers than myself. We walk in the footsteps of giants. I have benefited from reading their posts realizing the different ways...

How are you braddahs growing the Ortega and Tom, I hope you post your Ortega journal soon. How is your MKS coming along BTW?

Hi,

Nice set up!
Need more space too...

My two mks are doing very well, but one of them is one
of the fastest blooming plant I ever seen....her smell that was sweat at the beginning turned out very bad within a few days... .. Camphor, tar, with a touch of my underwears after a 4 days hike without a shower.... Will yield porly...It's exactly what Broseidon described in his mks thread.... And I had exactly the same reaction I put my nose back when I smelled it.

The other one flower at normal speed and smell what you can expect from this genetic.... Yield seems very promising for this one.

I kept 6 Ortegas they are at 35 days from the flip.
They flower a bit slowlier than the mks but had less grow time and were put on 12/12 before reaching preflower stage....
I abandoned the ideas of making F2 on these ones.... So the male I kept is on the compost pile now.

Will make pictures this WE.

Aloha braddahs!

The new crop is coming along nicely. I am feeling the excitement; sensing the mana emanating from these eager youngsters. They got their first prophylactic spray last night. It is a mixture of neem, kelp, fulvic and silicate.

I left the lights intentionally higher to encourage an initial distance between soil and cotyledon. I usually strip the lowers to minimize pest, intersex issues, and to maximize light exposure. I reasoned that I might be able to use more of the “taller” plant this way. My room can accommodate the typical height of these Indies so that wasn’t really an issue and I am comfortable with LST if I do get a basketball star.

Aloha braddahs!

She's a beauty! Masterkaze is great stuff for sure brah!

Another week has passed. Today, I had the 5x5’s- 2 liter pots ready for an up-pot and made the mistake of smoking a j of the G13/AfSk I grew awhile ago. The smoke delayed the project, putting me out for 4 hours lol. The afternoon- shot. So, the plan is to get them into bigger pots, grow to desired size, sex, and so on. Tomorrow, I’ll start tomorrow. Damn that G13!

Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of great grows getting posted here on the site. Nothing like experience that goes beyond reading other peoples words to prove or disprove whether or not you are on the right track.

Such a nice green show you have again  You can give yourself credits to brother! We are all one big fam

those ortegas look pretty tall for a indi, i wonder what monsters you are gonna grow up this time :D

how would you compare that crazy NevHaze with a longer flowering MangoHaze? ive had some 15w mango looking alot like your 4 week cured bud. Looks tasty :D

Aloha fellow Firewalkers!

42 into 2 liter pots. Give them some time to mature before sexing and then put females into 5 gallon pots for the flower.

Gonna look for that pheno Tom is talking about in his MKS thread and look for some new Ortega studs too. The Ortega gave some spine to the floppy, long branched ACDC.

This has turned out to be a very good smoke and needs exploration. What do you expect? It has Medicine Man for a father. He increased my yield and the SD mom gave smell and more taste. Medman and Ortega make the best dads!

Lookin awesome!!! Cannot wait to see how these do. Do you pop a whole pack of seed during a run to find the keepers? Sent off my cash and am really stoked to find good meds in mr nice seeds. Thank you for the updates!!

Quick as a wink

Aloha braddahs!

Mahalo Bobandargus!

Just a quick note. Golly, I’m going to have to reset my internal grow clock lol. I’ve been used to a longer grow cycle and have forgotten how quickly these varieties mature. I am still at 18/6 and was surprised this morning to find the room smelling of sex. The Ortegas and Ortega crosses are already getting stinky. It is nice to smell the dankness; the earth in these Indies for a change. The plants range from 10’’, with the quicker ones reaching 17”. And I can’t believe how quickly some of the young girls are ovulating  3 weeks out and 12 quickies so far. The breakdown:

Ortega- 2
Ortega cross- 2
Critical Mass- 3
MedMan cross- 5 :)

pistils.jpg

I’ve decided to give a few away and now need to make some quick selections. Once I decide on the keepers, my selections will go into 5 gal. pots immediately. I’ll make quick work of the remaining females by shipping 'em outta here. These will come from the Ortegas and Critical Mass. The crosses will stay at home. Wash, rinse, and repeat the same process as I start to diminish light and more come out to play.

Aloha fellow Firewalkers!

Getting back into the Indie groove, I was smoking some G13 x Afghan Skunk late last night and really appreciating what a fine hybrid can do. I finished a third before having to set it down. It had been a busy day yesterday what with all the killing. Hard decisions were made about males. A good long talk with myself about being overextended. Throw in a good FU and one might have a good story. Tell me if you have heard this one before lol. It all began with a joint of Neville’s Haze!

I usually keep different varieties in their separate trays. Some grows have been meticulous with everything labeled. And other grows? Well, a couple tags in the tray would suffice. I know what I'm doing right? Uh, No! Yesterday, while sorting the males, I placed some “knowns” into another tray with some other unlabeled plants. The other tray of Ortegas got mixed with the Ortega crosses. Result? Ain’t gonna do the Ortega crosses. Argh! I still have my Curandera males (known) sorted so will at least get part of my project completed. It’s bad enough that I’m occasionally lazy about stuff but that Nev’s is some strong stuff. I’ll post an update to that Doors thread sometime soon.
Hope is all good in your world, braddahs. I spent last weekend in the water. Rebirth is what it felt like.

I’m about over the trauma of letting the males go  Some beauties but always another street car, a little later. Not to change the subject but 2 more girls have joined the shindig.
