Hi Red,
There are a number of very interesting theories about this subject surfacing. H.A.A.R.P was the first thing that came to my mind in fact, but I had quickly discovered a few other theories as well which leave one very interested in this subject, regardless of ultimate official explanations.

Arkansas’ Birds Dead: Killed by HAARP’s Death Ray?

By DJ Pangburn Monday, January 03, 2011

Were the red-winged blackbirds so depressed by the economy they decided to commit collective suicide in protest? Or is government bird testing to blame. You decide.

John Fitzpatrick, the Director of Cornell University’s Ornithology Lab, said a “washing machine-type thunderstorm” suddenly appeared in Arkansas and sucked the red-winged blackbirds up into its midst and spat them back out onto the ground. Fitzpatrick says this is the most likely explanation for the strange phenomenon of the black birds falling from the sky.
A little research on the Internet reveals that thunderstorms do suddenly appear in time and space. Random, quantum thunderstorms. Magical realism come to life.
That theory works until one considers that there were no reports of a storm over Beebe, Arkansas, where the birds fell from the sky like the frogs in P.T. Anderson’s “Magnolia.”
The other theory so far is that a high degree of “stress” (brought on by New Year’s fireworks or Arkansasians firing shotguns into the air) caused the blackbirds to take flight from their roost. It follows that they either all simultaneously had heart attacks then fell, or became so disoriented from the effects of the booms and flashes that they nose-dived onto streets, cars, houses, etc. But even if these arethe ultimate explanations, why is this the first we’ve heard of the theory? Someone needs to investigate who writes Fitzpatrick’s check.
Anyone who has ever watched the Fox show “Fringe” knows that disasters and strange phenomena always have a sinister government twist. The usual methods of scientific inquiry cannot explain such events. Religion cannot explain such events. And so it is left to more paranormal forms of inquiry to make sense of such phenomena. Anyone who has ever read Charles Fort’s paranomal classic “The Book of the Damned” will attest to the fact that science and religion sometimes don’t know shit. (Read “The Fortean Times” magazine for a regular dose of the anomalous paranormal so beloved by its namesake.)
Fort was a lateral thinker. For instance, he noted that in 1883 a strange light could be seen all over the night sky across the world. This was the year of the famous volcanic explosion of Krakatoa, and many scientific authorities and observers blamed the glow on the explosion. Fort was able to prove that the glow had actually preceded the explosion of Krakatoa. Does this prove a conspiracy? No. But it does suggest that scientists weren’t exactly honest or were just plain stupid.
Apply this lateral thinking to the dead birds and fish of Arkansas and at the very least we must question the scientific theories (remember, they are only theories) of university professors and government scientists. Fitzgerald’s “washing machine-type thunderstorm” becomes just as laughable as any conspiracy theory.
And what of the conspiracy theories already bubbling up around the dead birds and fish?
The bodies of the Arkansas’ dead birds were hardly cold before Alex Jones and other conspiracy theorists were blaming the government, the most likely explanation being HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program). HAARP is an experimental program conducting research into the ionospheric applications of high atmospheric technological applications, including missile detection, radio transmission, etc. (These are the admitted applications, remember.)
Much of the attention directed at HAARP has been drawn to the program’s IRI (ionospheric research instrument), which is capable of “exciting” certain areas of the atmosphere. The ionosphere, full of electrons, heavily influences the Earth’s electricity and radio transmission. And so HAARP’s research with the IRI has given rise to comparisons to Nikola Tesla’s Death Ray, causing many conspiracy theorists–including Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez—to believe that the IRI can cause earthquakes, storms, power outages, and on and on.
For many, it is not a stretch to assume the dead birds over Beebe, Arkansas were the victim’s of HAARP’s “Death Ray” and maybe even the fish, too.
Then again, maybe these creatures suffer from clinical depression, fried nerves or were sucked up into a washing machine thunderstorm as Fitzpatrick suggests.
Me? I’m waiting to hear what Hugo Chavez has to say.

Some other interesting stories surrounding this topic from around the internet, though all of these should be taken with a grain of salt of course.

Top US Official Murdered After Arkansas Weapons Test Causes Mass Death

A shocking report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by the Foreign Military Intelligence Directorate (GRU) states that one of the United States top experts in biological and chemical weapons was brutally murdered after he threatened to expose a US Military test of poison gas that killed hundreds of thousands of animals in Arkansas this past week.

According to this report, John P. Wheeler III, Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. from 2005-2008, when he became the Special Assistant to the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Logistics and Environment, was found brutally murdered and dumped in a landfill, and as we can read as reported by the Fox News Service:

“Delaware Police are investigating the apparent murder of a former Bush official who also championed the fund-raising effort to build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. Wheeler’s body was found in Wilmington on Friday.
According to police, somebody initially reported that the body was dumped out of a refuse truck, which would have been coming from Newark, onto the landfill. Newark Police spokesman Lt. Mark Farrall told Fox News that nobody had reported Wheeler missing before he was found.
The Wilmington News Journal reported that Wheeler was last seen riding an Amtrak train from Washington to Wilmington, Del., last Tuesday.”
Wheeler’s military career included writing one of the most important manuals on the effectiveness of biological and chemical weapons which led to his being hired in 2009 as a consultant to the Mitre Corporation, whose aviation system development department, the GRU reports, is at the forefront of creating the computer command and control systems used by the US Air Force in their fleet of aerial spraying planes. [photo 2nd left]

These aerial spraying planes, this report continues, are based at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas that over the past few months have been involved with ‘test dispersants’ of poisonous gasses in the Afghanistan War Theater using chemical weapons stocks obtained from Iraq and held at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, also located in Arkansas.

Important to note about the Pine Bluff Arsenal, which calls itself “America’s Arsenal”, is that it is one of the World’s most specialized munitions and chemical-biological defense products and services bases which Russia had previously accused of not fully reporting the chemical agents removed from Iraq, between 2003 and 2008, and taken to the US for testing and subsequent destruction.
According to this report, the US relocated from Iraq to the Pine Bluff Arsenal an estimated 63,000 metric tonnes of the poisonous gas Phosgene that is described as one of the most feared chemical weapons ever used due to its ability to literally cause the lungs and respiratory system to explode.

Nearly immediately after Russia accused the US this past summer of not fully destroying Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stockpile the Pine Bluff Arsenal began an ‘accelerated’ disposal programme injecting it deep into the ground in central Arkansas, but which, unfortunately, since this past September, has caused over 500 minor earthquakes to occur raising the concerns of their local population.

More frightening, however, is the claim made in this report that the Americans have also begun shipping ‘massive quantities’ of Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stocks to Afghanistan where when used they will be able to say they had nothing to do with it, and believe no one will be able to prove it either.

Important to note about Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stocks are that they are no longer able to be made by any Western country, including the United States, which makes its value as a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) incalculable, especially in a war situation like Afghanistan where the enemy forces are firmly entrenched in hostile terrain.

To the direct reason for Wheeler’s murder, this report says, was this past week’s transport of Iraqi Phosgene poisonous gas aboard a US Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft from Little Rock Air Force Base enroute to Afghanistan that shortly after takeoff had a ‘critical malfunction’ of its aerial spraying computer directed command and control system over central Arkansas causing the deaths of thousands of red-wing blackbirds.
According to US reports an estimated 5,000 of these birds were killed outright and were quickly removed by US Environmental Services workers wearing hazmat suits and gas masks. Another US report states that cause of death to these thousands of birds was “trauma in the breast tissue, with blood clots in the body cavity and a lot of internal bleeding” which this GRU report states is consistent with Phosgene exposure.
Even more chilling than this incident is this GRU report stating that it was the second “accidental” release of Phosgene poisonous gas in as many days, as the day before, this same US Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft also had a “critical malfunction” causing a release over the Arkansas River that killed over 100,000 fish.

Upon Wheeler discovering what was happening with Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stockpiles, this report continues, he traveled from his home in Delaware to Washington D.C. where he openly confronted and threatened to expose the Pentagon and White House Officials responsible. Being a Vietnam Veteran who was responsible for having the famous memorial to that war erected, Wheeler was more than knowledgeable about the United States massive chemical and biological attacks in that conflict and had vowed to not let happen again.

Sadly, but all too common in the United States these days, when Wheeler threatened to go public with what was happening he was targeted for death, and as a “sign” to anyone else thinking of going against the regime, had his body dumped in a garbage pit for all the World to see.
Today, another great American was murdered in an effort to save his country from destruction. Sadly, his death will go barely noticed; the American people seem no longer to care as they continue to seek their solace in their propaganda media lies rather than confronting the brutal truth about the monsters they have let rule over them.

For hundreds of thousands of other Americans they have become so disassociated with what is happening to, and around them, they have proclaimed May 21, 2011 as the day the World will end and are giving up everything in preparing to meet their God.

The great American Revolutionary leader Noah Webster once said, “Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country.”

The Americans living today have utterly failed to heed these words and have, instead, become just what their masters have always intended for them to be…imbeciles. May God have mercy on them all.

it is the beginning of the end

i blame the H.A.A.R.P project because IT IS STILL BEING USED AND TESTED

i dont care if its only upper layers of the atmosphere , it has to get there somehow and has to effect things in between

also they would want us to believe its only upper layers of the atmosphere , but that i dont trust or believe

then again , maybe my first comment was right , maybe it is the beginning of the END !

Christ, tin hat time or what? It takes a very paranoid and irrational mindset to immediately think of HAARP or secret govt conspiracies when something unusual occurs.

The explanation is 1000x more likely to be far less elaborate and suspicious, that is the rational viewpoint.

There's some glaring errors in that second piece:

Quote:

Utter crap, quite frankly. Phosgene is simple to make and is actually a by-product of a chemical process commonly used in the dye industry, thousand of tons of it are produced every year in chemical plants in the US and Europe as an unwanted by-product. Incalculable value? Rubbish, far more phosgene is produced and destroyed in chemical plants every year than was in the Iraqi stocks, phosgene is of marginal use today as it has vastly less effectiveness than many other poisonous gases, it was superceded by other substances before WW2 and Britain and the US had maintained stockpiles of mustard gas and other agents rather than phosgene - the US even took a shipload of mustard gas bombs to Europe just in case, the ship was bombed in Bari harbour in Italy in 1944 and many casualties occurred due to the release of gas.

Quote:
Nearly immediately after Russia accused the US this past summer of not fully destroying Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stockpile the Pine Bluff Arsenal began an ‘accelerated’ disposal programme injecting it deep into the ground in central Arkansas, but which, unfortunately, since this past September, has caused over 500 minor earthquakes to occur raising the concerns of their local population.
Injecting it into the ground? That is not how phosgene is disposed of, it is reacted with ammonia to produce Urea which is then used as fertiliser. Why inject into the ground something that can be turned into valuable fertiliser through a very simple and cheap chemical process?

Quote:
Phosgene that is described as one of the most feared chemical weapons ever used due to its ability to literally cause the lungs and respiratory system to explode.
Rubbish, phosgene has a rating of 450 on the Haber lethality index and while this makes it more lethal than other poisonous gases such as chlorine, mustard gas and chloropicrin it is much less lethal than Sarin, Tabun, Vx and half a dozen others. Phosgene does not make the lungs and respiratory system explode, it blisters them and results in slow, painful suffocation.

Quote:
According to US reports an estimated 5,000 of these birds were killed outright and were quickly removed by US Environmental Services workers wearing hazmat suits and gas masks.
Hazmat suits and gas masks? Why would those be necessary if phosgene had killed the birds? Phosgene doesn't persist in the atmosphere very long, within a couple of hours it would be completely gone. This is largely why phosgene was hardly ever used as a poison gas on it's own, it had to be mixed with other gases, usually chlorine.

Has anyone bothered to study the weather at the time of these supposed phosgene incidents? Phosgene needs to be in a concentrated cloud to be lethal to humans and is very easily dispersed by wind, spraying it from a plane is precisely how not to use it, it has to be released in concentrated clouds. Why weren't people also affected? Why did no-one notice the smell of phosgene? If birds were dropping from the sky due to phosgene, you would smell the gas and be affected too as it would sink to the ground, being heavier than air.

Clearly whoever wrote that GRU report (if it even exists) knows nothing about poison gas warfare. The whole article seems paper-thin and barely credible, whoever wrote it didn't bother to do any fact-checking.

If the mainstream, credible media pick this up and run with it then there may be something suspicious behind these deaths, but if the level of coverage is of the standard of that piece then that strongly suggests it is a load of bunk.

I was coming back from Boronia station and there was freshly dead native bird on the ground today, And I didn't see any other natives flying around other than some crows, Which is unusual, as the place is almost deafening with Cockatoos and other bird life. Something weird is going on!

Well i think its a bit od that birds just fall out of the sky dead and in 2 country's science can try and find an explanation but often there just looking for any thing that can be used as the reason for it happening.

Are you really going to believe your governments explanation about what caused this i sure am not.

I wonder if the rains in Queensland have something to do with weather weapons?
