dont worry jonny, i loves my leaves just trying to find a reason to do it really.
like you said, what ever your(not you) trying to do by defoliating can be done a better way IMO and experience.

have a good day

I no longer believe in 'rootbound' after having plants in small containers for extended periods of time. The plants looked great and grew just fine as long as I kept them fed and watered. The only drawback was they grew smaller and lateral branching was reduced.
+1

FWIW, I don't defoliate. Growing mostly either sativa doms or single cola sog plants means I have lots of light on my budsites w/o removing plant matter. The only thing that I pull are budsites in an effort to influence the shape/size if the plant. I pull top budsites to encourage the plant to grow sideways, and I pull lower sites to encourage plants to develop main colas. I DO like to move plants around and spin them during flower so that they get exposure on all sides, and all of the plants get a chance to bask in the 'sweet spot' under the bulbs. Seems to help more with even ripening than anything else.

when i was limited to growing indoors i didnt remove leaf , i used to just bend the plants and make what we call a screen of green , a layer of budsites over the whole area ,
gives u maximum light that way ,,
without loosing any vital solar panels ..

haha, nice one EB See ur building an e-bottle range lol

I don't understand why you'd want to pull fan leaves. You end up stressing the plant multiple times, halting growth every time it's done, and damaging yield in the process. I'd like to see the root mass of a side by side as well,,, I'd bet the plant that's been defoliated several times will have a less developed root mass,,,

Extra bud sites can be developed without damaging the plant and slowing growth to that extent. Topping ONCE along with some gentle training will give you better results.

Here's a plant I just topped once. About 8 weeks veg and ready for flowering,,,
