I have one of those boards and they are awesome . Their hlg 550 is redommended to hang at 29 inches for best growth during veg and covers a 5×5 area . Great efficiency as well

looks real dank, but 1000 watt has 2000 umol, i'm not sure it has quite the same power, they see, to have another model which is 1350 and shoots 1600 umol, they say you can use co2 and everything, very interesting technology, i gues fluence is a big player in this new game ?

That's a link to the webpage, most seem to have a 4x4 coverage area but it has a dimming function, The PPFD is so high I think the SSH would be fine and if not you could do some training/lst/scrog.

Anyway it's way out my price range, I want to make my own light with a Luminus or Cree COB using a passive pin heatsink, a guy on youtube grew a nice plant with 54w!
A couple of them would do me fine....
why do you want a dimming function ? during first stages of VEG or FLOWER you want less light output to save electricity ?

I wonder how to measure things, some measure by UMOLS other by PPFD or something like that, what is the best measurement ?

Sorry for the number of post.

Look at this thread, debate over, 600 CMH is better than 1000 watt hps

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=352859

i cared to read everything and not only the 600 cmh gives more yield, it's a better end product

and what do you mean by this 200-300 replacing a 1k ? CMH or LED ? which 200-300 ?

so the best setup would be alot of leds of small power ? could you give me an example of how many leds you would use fto cover an area of 100 square feet, just trying to make an idea.

thanks for all your experts advice and your time guys

Theres many leds out now that blow away a 600watt HPS and use less watts.
Micro,cree cobs,chililed pucks,and theres a few more.
There are many inferior companies jumping in the led market and selling junk.
Go to youtube and watch Micro videos or growmau5 videos and see actual proof.
Amazon sells lots of junk.

There’s a new movement and China is pumping out high grade led grow lights using Samsung,Cree,Osram,etc... chips
there’s the Spyder Osram,Gavita 650e,etc... which have a huge amount of white, then added blues,red,etc... but what they’re doing is making leds that are very spread out over the area.
So now the led panels are 3 by 3 and even 4 by 4 so the PPFD is 1000+ even in the corners of grow area.
Not only do they run cooler and use 40% less current but the whole 4 by 4 or 4 by 5 area gets 1000ppfd,not just in the 2 by 2 center.
Every body knows biggest colas are under the light and get smaller towards edges, but think about increase of yields when
4 by 4 =16 sq feet minus 2 by 2 4sq feet is 12 sq feet.
So 12/16=75% more has big colas like what is under light.
Also lights have life brightness of 10 year instead of one grow.

Leds will take over.
