Question Plant Transferring Questions

Hi,

I have started an Ortega, Medicine Man indoor grow with 18 seedlings in a coco and perlite medium. As I need to conserve finances, I would very much like to better understand plant transferring primarily so as to save on nutrition costs.

I was thinking of transferring the seedlings to 1 gallon bags and then to 3 gallon. But, I thought of a final transfer to 5 gallon at the point in flowering where gender is identified, males are removed, and the coco from the males conserved by using with the transfer.

Does this sound like a good approach? I guess my main uncertainties are if numerous transfers is bad for the plants and if there is any benefit transferring to 5 gallon bags at the above described stage.

Heck, I see a few views. I am pretty inexperienced at this.

Can't someone lend a hand?

best to do final transplant a few weeks before you start the flowering phase. If you transplant too near the beginning of flowering you may experience transplant shock and the plant should be focusing on transitioning from vegging to preflowering.

Also, if transplanting too close to flowering time your roots wont fill out the pot, making it easier to drown the roots when watering.

hope this helps
