I tried a few cheaper ph meters and they only seem to work in very low ec values.
I usually adjust my ph until the gen hydro liquid turns yellow for 6.0. I'd like to try 5.8 but it takes a very high quality meter or good strips I'm guessing. |

Hi Cbdfan !
I advise you to adjust your pH between 5.5 & 5.8 in a temperate solution. I use a ph meter Eurotech, it is a bit expensive but easy has calibrate and accurate in measurements. I think it is a vital tool. Peace |

I used the drops for years in the early days, thats all we had., they work well. A pH of 6 is fine the difference is marginal unless you are in rockwool.

Thanks!
I wasn't sure if yellow gives 6.0 but my cheapie ph meter so far agrees. I use coco\perlite mix. I usually ph yellow,6.0,but I'm trying 5.8-5.9. |

The trick to keeping the cheap pH probes alive is to keep the bridge and sensor wet. Store it in pH 4 buffer and it will live a little longer.
The drops are a really good quick check if something doesn't quite add up. You can download charts for the indicators colours if you have lost the one that comes with it. |

Tap water is ok but definitely not RO water, that will kill it in a prompt manner.
A slightly acidic storage solution is best . 3mol KCl is ideal if you have it. Cheers |

Eutech Instruments :: Products :: By Type It seems very solid and reliable so far. Used an HM digital before that and ran into problems after about 12 months. I personally would recommend investing a few bucks into a good PH pen you'll save yourself a lot of time and trouble. |
