Hello friends!
I am attempting to grow some Nordle outdoors this season here in the mid-south US. Tobacco country near 36°N.
I started three early, on March 15th: Two males and one female. I moved the guys outside nearby as soon as they showed, and they gave me some pollen to play with. I killed them off yesterday, they were getting too tall to stay stealthy. Also they were in those small-ish containers, and toting water to them every day is far too risky.
The female from this batch went out to her home on April 30. She encountered some significant transplant stress, but is still soldiering on. She seems to be stuck between flowering and freaked out but maybe she'll get herself sorted.
The latest batch is 36 days old. These were started under T5s and were brought outside some (BIG mistake imho, pests) but I cooked up another grow space to jump-start the babies. They are presently under 1000w MH, @ 15/9. I've been lightly feeding these with FoxFarm Big Bloom 4 tsp/gl and Grow Big 2 tsp/gl.
The plan is to let these veg another week or two inside, bringing the light hours down to 14/10 then move them outside around the solstice. I'll cull any males once they reveal. Last year, we had an abnormally wet season, but this year so far has been pretty dry... Hoping we have a dry fall, is all.
I had intended to let these grow up naturally, but if there is benefit to topping them, I will consider it. I was going to prune maybe the lower 1/3 growth off, once they get established in their outdoor sites. This has been done to the one gal outside, so all I'll do for her is water & feed if required.
Thanks for looking in, and happy growing!
