Nobody Loves Nordle?

Hello friends!

I am attempting to grow some Nordle outdoors this season here in the mid-south US. Tobacco country near 36°N.

I started three early, on March 15th: Two males and one female. I moved the guys outside nearby as soon as they showed, and they gave me some pollen to play with. I killed them off yesterday, they were getting too tall to stay stealthy. Also they were in those small-ish containers, and toting water to them every day is far too risky. ;)

The female from this batch went out to her home on April 30. She encountered some significant transplant stress, but is still soldiering on. She seems to be stuck between flowering and freaked out :( but maybe she'll get herself sorted.

The latest batch is 36 days old. These were started under T5s and were brought outside some (BIG mistake imho, pests) but I cooked up another grow space to jump-start the babies. They are presently under 1000w MH, @ 15/9. I've been lightly feeding these with FoxFarm Big Bloom 4 tsp/gl and Grow Big 2 tsp/gl.

The plan is to let these veg another week or two inside, bringing the light hours down to 14/10 then move them outside around the solstice. I'll cull any males once they reveal. Last year, we had an abnormally wet season, but this year so far has been pretty dry... Hoping we have a dry fall, is all. :p

I had intended to let these grow up naturally, but if there is benefit to topping them, I will consider it. I was going to prune maybe the lower 1/3 growth off, once they get established in their outdoor sites. This has been done to the one gal outside, so all I'll do for her is water & feed if required.

Thanks for looking in, and happy growing! :)

Looking good UnpossibleOne.
I have not grown nordel before but I was a tester for CBD#1 which Shanti said was a Nordel cross with CBD enrichment.
All the plants had a similar tropical fruit smell , hard dense nugs and quick finish time. Plants were neglected but they handled it well . Easy to grow.

I wish I had a spot to grow outdoors:(

Best of luck
will be watching

I have went through about 42 Nordle seeds so far and would say that from what i found i will be getting more.

Most of my females liked a longer veg cause when they went into flowering they didn't stretch much at all this was great for getting real big buds but not taking up much room. Most of these short ones make great hash for taste and effect.

My keeper though was unlike anything i have grown so far. ( i still dream of her:D) She would root from a fresh cut in 3-4 days all day everyday lol. She stretched a little bit more than the rest but was just amazing some said it tasted like skittles but to me it was more like Sweet Tarts with pine... I smoked off her for about two yrs and it was like the first time every time.

This was before i started taking pictures or i would show pics with this.

I would say from what i have grown out they are real tough plants all around. Ill admit that when i got my first pack of nordle i was in dwc and didn't understand ppm or ec so i was making all kinds of mistakes from light leaks to over feeding and they took it like champs. As long as i had a lot of fresh air coming in i didn't have much problems with mold but she did do good topped when your vegging longer. Just my 2 cents.

sorry about talking so much i just had to say something when i seen the name of your thread :D

Nice pics. Keep us posted. So far, so good. Lookin really nice.

Thanks for the additional info budporn. Very intersting & helpful observations.

Impossible, if your girls get to tall, gently bend them over & tie them down so they are going more horizontal. You'll love how your side branches react. Be careful, take them down a little at a time over a few days so you don't break them. Water them 1st & wait a few hours so the main stem is moist & bend a little at a time.

You'll want to leave some space between the plant & the ground so the underneath branches don't get full of mud & dirt. You can train the underneath branches with small diameter stakes [like an arrow] to make sure they go up.

I have to do that with sativa's in my green house, even though it's about 12' high. Most of the side branches look like central colas.

You can also FIM or super crop to keep them from getting to tall.

Good luck with your grow. Hope ya get a lotta sticky scissors after harvest. :)

Mid-August update

Out of three Nordles germinated on May 3d & planted outside at site D on June 10th, I removed one male on July 23d. The remaining two plants had developed female flowers between then and my latest visit on August 8th.

One is sort of small, 2' and skinny, but the other is about 3' tall and filling out well. I removed all the dead fan leaves from the large one, after the photo.

The large female Nordle at site F is doing well. 3.5' tall and getting bushy! Saw a little frost already! Considering I had serious doubts that this particular one would survive, I'm pretty happy with the progress. :p She was germ'd on March 15th, flowered to check sex, then set outside on April 30th. She went through significant transplant distress, and took far too long to revert back to veg growth & then re-flower.

All four Nordles that made it to the woods showed significant transplant distress (many fan leaves turned rust brown & died) I may have over-fed them, but these were two separate plantings, 5 weeks apart. None of my other four strains showed anything like it with the same liquid feed. IDK but it's something to remember for next year (I'll just wet in any nordle sites with plain water.)

Thanks for looking in & Happy Growing! :)

Good looking work U have done. Looks good to me!

Man, where did August go so quick? Soon it'll be sticky fingers & fresh bud time as Sept. rolls over us.

Hello Friends.

I visited Site D yesterday morning, and things are well. The larger one has some good-looking tops, and they are starting to get frosty :D

I tried to remove a few of the weaker/less buddy branches for airflow, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I snipped off maybe 5, but mostly left it alone. the bulk of the structure is off the ground and the tops aren't completely crammed into each other.

The fan leaves were using themselves up I'd say normally, and I removed all the debris from those. There are a LOT of those leaves, and I'm afraid their decay will promote bad things if not removed ASAP.

Thinking that this would be a lovely "small greenhouse" plant, if one could tend it regularly, and maybe force in some cold dry air at night?

Thanks for looking & Happy Growing!

Lookin good boss. I just got some Nordle & can't wait to get some started. Gotta do mine ID, to late in the season for me for OD.

Finally got a good rain, which means I have been staking up rain heavy OD ladies.

So far your work is lookin good!

Don't be afraid to trim some lower branches, the top ones will love ya. If you do clones & they aren't to far into flower U could make some clones from the cuts.

Good luck. Hope all keeps going well.

Site F 8-23-14

Hello Friends,

I hiked up to Site F, and visited my oldest Nordle girl today. She got a little grooming, and then a 12 liter drink of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, and ChaChing powder supplement (weak @ 1 tsp /1 tbsp / 1/4 tsp per gallon.) I hadn't fed her in over a month, and this might give her a little boost towards the finish line.

As for a harvest time, I have no experience at all with this strain. I'm assuming another 3-4 weeks, but that's just a guess.

Thanks for looking in, and happy growing! :)

Good luck GreenT. Hope she pops for ya real big. I'll be doin some Nordle soon, ID. Getting her space all cleaned up.

I have the same problem with a late bloomer. Have some THC Bomb Sativas that haven't shone at all yet. They are both nice & tall, but since they have not shown male by now I figure they are girls but I don't know...they been in the ground OD since about early April & have not even pre-sexed yet. Never had this happen before nor heard of it.

Maybe somebody stumbled on a 'no bud for you, bud' strain. :p All my other ladies are doin their thing. Have some Herijuana & Santa Maria ready to cure.

UnImposs, nice lookin pics. Good job. Hope ya get yer fingers stuck to yer scissors. ;) Good luck & happy harvey time.

Thanks for the kind words!

GTS, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the timing of my two examples - especially "F" since she was flowered early, then planted on April 30. She never did exhibit what I'd call normal veg growth outside.

mM I grew one of those budless wonders indoors. "Raw Diesel" IIRC a freebie seed from Attitude. grew like a coconut palm, up 1m with a few fan leaves and maybe 2g of bud. Total waste of space/effort, but was a good lesson.

Ahh yeah I miss the sticky fingers. I have been smoking on male leaf all summer, so the little final trim from Friday has some welcome effects.

Happy Growing!

Hello friends,

My Nordle grow has come to a close. :) I felt like the old girl at site F got compromised, so I took her home on September 2 (a few weeks early or?) and I pulled the other two yesterday.

Rot had begun to affect the buds on the bigger one, so I removed the funk and brought them home too. Three cool-ish wet weeks :( I was able to recover probably 90% so it's not a huge loss, but I was hoping it wouldn't occur.

I feel these have a place here in the humid south... inside a growroom or humidity-controlled greenhouse. :p No, these did okay, just a combination of late-season cool & dampness, tight bud structure, and my inability to excise all the dead foliage regularly that set up the risky conditions. I bet they'd be excellent sited out in the dryer SW US.

The plant that was pulled in early-Sept hung-dried for awhile, and it's been jarred for a couple weeks & burped daily. It's still early, but the flavor is very kind and fruity. I've been leaving the larger buds alone, but the popcorn has very sedative effects. It may cure up to be totally different (the freshly harvested one 3 weeks later will be different :p) but from here The Nordle appears to be good medicine.

Thanks for looking in, and happy growing!

Unpossible, thanks for the info & the eye candy.

If yer earlier popcorn was good then yer later 'big buds' will be better. Glad to hear the pocorn is good. I sampled some of my popcorn & the later buds were better.

I wanna grow some Nordle, Tutankhamen & a coupla other strains this winter.

Most everything here is on hold as I am just getting into harvest. My 3 THC Bombs finally showed bout 2 wks ago. One male, 2 ladies. Cut some male branches & put em in air stone water to get some pollen for a seed run. Then the male got cut for mulch & dog chew toys. I wanna cross the THC B with a Wild Child Sativa volunteers as well as a coupla branches on the THC B.

From the blurb by the seed vendor where I got the THC B's these are not THC Bomb. Been wantin a pure Sativa any way so it worked out. Just hope the buds are bigger & get done before next April. :D

Let us known how the final Nordle smoke turned out. Thanks.

Hello Friends,

Here are a few pictures of the Nordle buds. None were remarkably large, but they seem uniformly sized, tasty and sticky. The effects of the older buds (from 9-2) are sedative and calming. Pretty much exactly what I was after. If they develop a bit of muscular pain relief, I'll take that too. The last bud of this I tried had a hint of body buzz... but I am so THC infused IDK what I am feeling. :p All I can rate is either "stoned" or "not stoned" and I'm doing my very best to dwell within the former.

I haven't sampled any from the larger girl from 9-26, but early testing of the smaller 9-26 Nordle shows it is pretty potent. I used up maybe 50g of the trim leaf to make about .75g dry sift hash... My first effort in that direction, and a sample test was positive! I'm saving the treat for a quiet evening with a friend. :)

Thanks for looking in on my first Nordle grow. :) I'd like to try this strain again, either in a greenhouse or indoors (to better manage %RH in flowering and perform more regular housekeeping)

I'll wrap this thread up with some other testers' thoughts after another bit of curing. Happy Growing :D

hi all,
interesting thread :)
me , i really like my nordle,
2 years ago , we grew 45 seeds of nordle ,with the attempt to find a super skunk mother,we got 29 fem and 2 was like this super skunk we all love ; super dank afgan rubber/skunk smell on taste and smell.

few pics of this nordle

la-resistance-verte-albums-shot-picture11526-nor1.jpg

la-resistance-verte-albums-shot-picture11527-nor2.jpg

 Super Skunk indeed, LRV! :D That looks like something out of the old Seed Bank catalog I remember from the late 80s. Garlic Bud or some such. Nice find!!!

I have been going light on my Nordle stash, taking an occasional puff or two before bed. I don't know how to describe the taste and smell. It's some sort of 'berry,' raspberry maybe? IDK. It's not citrus (taste.) The smell is not skunky or malodorous to me, but I am immune anymore ;) The effects are relaxing and 'warm'(?) Almost like brandy, in a way.

I have second thoughts the two small plants I harvested, I thought one was a Nordle and the other a Medicine Man... however as they cure, they both look and smell really similar. And they both taste a lot like the big MM gal I chopped on 10-23 :p So for now I'll pretend IDFK and put the few seeds I gathered into the "mixed" vial.

I'm done burping the jars, so now the buds shall rest and cure for awhile. I will report back in a while, or if I get any more feedback. The one tester who has sampled from the 9-2 and the 9-26 plants rates them highly.

Thanks for looking & happy growing! :)

Gettin ready for spring & Nordle is on my list. Lookin forward to growing it & the other strain I got from here through Seedsman.

My compost pile is cookin & I'm excited to have new strains to try. Like they say, "So Many strains! So little time!" :D

All the best to every one's grows!!
