Week 4 of 12/12

Week four has passed and the bud sites are starting to add up. It is very rewarding to see one's efforts produce such wonderful flowers!:D Kelp foilar feeds are done and Aqua Flores with Cal Mag supplement given with and EC of 1.2 and a pH of 5.8. The girls are definitely doing their job.No training this week, just a few dead leaves trimmed.
Thank you for the compliment bogus! I am documenting my grow to not only help myself, but to help others avoid mistakes and get another viewpoint.

Week 4 of 12/12 Part 2

Heres the Hawaiian Indica, because of the trauma late in vegetation it is not a high yielding plant. This being said, it is quite healthy now. Sorry about the poor shot.

Got six Walkabout for the outdoors this Spring. They are in soil and looking great. Will plant in a few weeks. Here is a photo of 5 of them.

Next indoor grow will include the females of these 7 The Doors and 2 Nevil's Haze. They are in rockwool and perlite. The NHz are on the right and front row right.

That's it for this week, I appreciate everyone for stopping by.-bk

Lanina, Hawaiian, and pots from coffee paraphenalia, I like how you work, budkeeper :D

Hey keep an eye on that algae on the pot tops. I dunno what you can do to get rid of it, but if enough covers the roots, plants suffer. When I ran hempy's, I generally topdressed heavy with castings, so no algae buildup on the perlite. I have run into algae giving me problems in young plants in straight perlite, and plants outside in containers that don't block the light.

G`day BK

Likin the canopy profile bro .

You have a virtual SCROG goin on there . Just the way I like it .
The fun part is just beginning , when you come back after lights off and see the gains the plants have made during their night can make your lil heart skip a beat . he he .

Thanks for sharin

Elmer Bud .

I had some algae in passive hydro and it didn't seem to bother the plants. It bothered me though and I reuse my mix so I started using 1/2 tsp of
3% hydrogen peroxide per gallon and it not only controls the algae but seems to take care of any fungus gnats also.

Greetings budkeeper,

Those plants look stella mate. Especially like the look of that super skunk from the top. It is like a virtual SCROG and has a lot of bud sites. Will make for many nice colas. Keep up the great work man.

Best Regards

sXi

Thanks All

PatrickStar,
Like they say, necessity is the mother of invention.:D I like the passive hydro in perlite. I think 3:1 to vermiculite may be a little much. My reservoir is all perlite. Think I'll go 5:1 next time, got a ton of vermiculite. Likely could do without without a problem.
As far as the algae goes, it is only on the very top of the mix and has not affected the roots as far as I can tell. Almost went with coco, but read that the repeated use really dropped production, as a general rule.

Elmer Bud,
Thanks for the compliment and appreciate the grow tips. Keeping apical dominance spread out is advantageous to bud growth and super cropping is being cruel to the kind, but helps future growth. Really starting to get a feel for the rhythms of growing. This is my seventh grow, 4 were bag seed with CFL, and I believe I am starting to figure a few things out. Next step pollen chucker!

zigzag,
Appreciate the tip on the H2O2. Although I have had no problems thus far, it is always good to have a strategy. I have noticed alot of algae on my rockwool starter plugs on some slow starting sat dom hybrids. Will definitely keep an eye out.

sativaXindica,
Thank you for the kind words. The SS should really be taking off and should be close to harvest at around 8 weeks, La Nina should go around 10. Please stay tuned, thing are looking good and smelling great!-bk

To pinch one of my mate Elmer's lines " Thanks for sharin " BudKeeper. Much appreciated buddy.

Week 5 of 12/12

Things are coming along nicely with the plants. Each phenotype is expressing itself more and more each day. La Nina is not a heavy yielder, per se, but the buds are of very high quality. EC 1.2 ph 5.8.

La Nina 2012 Week 6 12/12

onelung2010,
I believe if you grow the La Nina you will not be disappointed.

oblone,
Thank you for the compliment. Trying to make a grow diary that not only helps others, but myself as well. Growing is a continual learning process. Kinda like life:eek:.

The girls keep packing on bud mass and resin is accumulating as well. Smellin' like some weeeeeeed! Should sell it as air freshener imo.

Here is a group shot under the hood with light.
1000734eb.jpg

LN-1 and LN-2 seem to be maturing fast, fan leaves are beginning to yellow already. I cut their nutrient down to an EC of 0.6 and added 1 tablesoppn of blackstrap molasses per gallon of nutrient. Others still getting EC 1.2 and pH of both remains at 5.8.

1000770g.jpg

I have not had to raise the light since setting it for flower. My mothers stretched alot when I sexed them and I took a week to transfer to flowering spectrum using CFL's. That along with the LST has really paid off in keeping my plants at a manageable level without sacrificing bud mass. La Nina 2 and 3 really stand out as different phenotypes than 1,6, and 8. Regardless, I am not dissapointed, but glad to see such distinct phenotypes. I appreciate everyone who has dropped in.-bk

La Nina 2012 Week 7 12/12

Times they are a changing! While outside my door Spring is in the air, indoors the harvest is about a month away for La Nina. Fan leaves have yellowed on all, most dramatically on LN-1, LN-2, and the HI. I removed many of the predominantly faded ones. It is giving necessary nutrients back to the plant/flowers that causes the fading, just like a battery that gives up it's energy for the unit to operate properly, when depleted they are then disposed of. I like simple analogies because I have a hard time wrapping my brain around it otherwise. Under the x 30 loupe all trichomes are clear. I came from the red hair generation so they still mean a little something to me. Love to smoke an all red hair joint every now and again. That's good shit I assure you. Tried to get some closer shots of bud structure, inexpensive camera prevents any closer shots.
Very nice stuff under magnification I assure you. Better camera definitely on wish list. Nutes down by end of week to EC 0.8 Canna Aqua Flores included is 1 tablespoon/gallon of blackstrap molasses. The pH remains at 5.8. Anyway, heres what I got for this week.
Start with under the hood with light.
1000779o.jpg

La Nina's 1 & 4 backup clones are my first, and likely last bosai grow. Look great, but not enough meat and potatoes. Did allow me to want to redo LN-4 though.

La Nina 2012 Week 8

Today is day 57 of 12/12 for the girls and most have lost a significant amount of fan leaves and only one is taking up the water and nutes like they all did 2 weeks ago. I am now watering every 3rd day, except for LN-6 which is still drinking it up. Canna Aqua Flores EC 0.6 with 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses added. The pH 5.8 as always. Loss of leaf mass shows some very nice bud structure and a significant amount of change over past week. Trichomes with loupe are slightly milky only on some. I'll start off with a shot under the hood with light.

La Nina 2 is unique and may actually be the Super Skunk. If that's so, then the Super Skunk is a La Nina. It shares the similarities. When I cloned I used rockwool plugs and drew a diagram of the plants. Obviously , I mixed them up. LN-6 and the Hawaiian Indica were mixed up. This taught me to label at plant site and I will definitely give these girls another run. Foxtails galore on the buds. Very attractive plant. Not as crystalline as the others though.

La Nina 6 meets my criteria for a keeper, depending oh how she smokes of course. It is dense with good bud structure. Add this to being loaded with crystals and you've got a winner!:D She is the only one currently still drinking up the nutes.

The Hawaiian Indica is a very low yielder with thick almost waxy leaves. Removed a whole lot of dead leaves this past week and I say there is only one good cola on the whole plant. She was in shock just prior to flowering so I can't say this is the norm for this girl.
