Cannabis for erectile dysfunction?

Hey guys,

Recent research
suggests that cannabis may improve sex drive and performance. Therefore, would it be possible that cannabis may be helpful for mens with erectile dysfunction?

What do you think?

Not sure about erectile dysfunction help with weed. It can either help intensify the sexual experience and climax or hinder it. I have found that strains like GDP (Granddaddy Purple) are great for intensifying the sexual experience and orgasm. Strains like Durban Poison get me too distracted from the sexual experience and I have a hard time climaxing. That may be a good thing for your partner though. So good weed can be bad in sex, but at the same time that can also be good? It is likely to be a highly personal experience though and highly variable between individuals and the strains smoked, as well as the amount that is smoked. And if she is high or you are high or you both are high. I cannot say that any particular weed makes me more randy either. But different weed strains can definitely affect the experience and in different ways for me.

I think this whole X good for Y is exactly the research going on behind closed curtains in all the countries that legalized medicinal cannabis.

The first step for any such country's medicinal program would be to scientifically quantify the different compounds present in these different cannabis strains. Then probably replicate them synthetically and then go into testing studies to determine which compound is "good for X" and which for Y etc.

At that point they will look back at the strains and say "ok, this strain is good for X and this one is good for Y" and start the whole GMO thing to make sure only Bayer/Monsanto earn money from "helping patients with X or Y" as they have the only government approved medicine etc. etc.

But they won't come out with this research until they are done with the next step, which is GMO cannabis and making sure the "right" people make the money on this research.

So once you will get scientific research stating "this compound in cannabis is responsible for helping with erectile dysfunction", it will be immediately followed by "the only government approved source which has this compound in RELIABLE and SAFE concentration is strain GMOXYZ from Bayer".

Anyway as a personal anecdote:
I don't suffer from ED but I did notice that I "last longer" when having smoked. Not sure if that has much to do with the canna or is more a state of mind thing.

Also, I believe the reason this current research phase of the active compounds etc. is dragging on so long because it is very hard to quantify as the personal/individual chemistry seems to play a huge role in all this, moreso with cannabis than with other medicine. My believe is this has to do with the huge amount of cannabinoid receptors present in our body, which likely give us a more "uniquetouch" to how each active compound in cannabis works with us individually (other than say antibiotics that are not absorbed through specific receptors along our nervous system afaik [citation needed lol]).

I would bet they already synthetically replicated active compounds in cannabis, pressed them into a pill and started testing, maybe on animals or something.
And I would further bet that they are finding this doesn't produce conclusive results as cannabis probably has a whole bunch of entourage effects going on (compounds doing things together that they don't do alone) as it has so many different active compounds present. And then there is the endocannabinoid system that is unique for each person and I am absolutely convinced that they lack the fundamental research in the endocannabinoid system to be able to determine how it changes the effects for each person, yet again.

There is probably a lot of headscratching going on there and eggheads are trying to understand how they handle the X-factors of entourage effects and the uniqueness of each endocannabinoid system.

That's interesting. I suppose the exact role of dopamine in male sexual function is poorly understood.

Delta(9)-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a well-known dopamine agonist. I suspect that THC may exert a direct activity on dopamine/oxytocin cross-talk in the hypothalamus: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20128851

The hypothalamus is the primary brain area implicated in control of penile erection...

As for me, cannabis can make your nights with a girl way better. The greatest sex I've ever had was after Bruce Banner. And the day after I decided not to quit smoking:)
Interesting. :)

Does your gf also use cannabis before sex?

If so, I suppose cannabis (THC) really may increase sex drive independently of male testosterone or estrogen levels..

Thanks for sharing. :)

How exactly does delta(9)-THC may improve sexual cognition in the hypothalamus to stimulate orgasm and sexual pleasure?? :)

The part of your brain that gives you the munchies is also the bit that signals sexual arousal.
In the nev skunk thread ' taste the rainbow, you have a female member discussing her emotional and physical response to arousal.
In the mango/affy haze threads (@angels breath flavour profile) they talk about a Viagra pheno.
Even the strain description for AB says to look for a pheno that will 'turn the medical community on'.
That one gives wood hard, and he talks about it's panty moistening/baby making effects on his female friends.
Old Sativa used to give wood. Always.
A lot of African strains seem to cause it.
In cannasos review for f13BB the chart for arousal is 100%. It is the most reported medical effect of this strain.
Funny thing is, arousal is listed as a negative effect. As if random wood isn't a blessing.
It does more than put you in the mood. It definitely puts lead into pencils.

Nah, cannabis can't help with this problem. I have a friend who smokes weed like Snoop-fucking-dog, but still has ED. Well, had. He solved this problem, taking some kind of pills as I know. I was concerned about my own health, and he has sent me this sildenafil review so I could learn more about it. As far as I understand, it's some kind of generic It's as good as original, but costs much less. Well, now if I will have ED, I will know how to get rid of it.

I think ED is more diet/exercise related. If you have a bad diet and do not exercise you are much more likely to have these kind of issues. Cannabinoids may promote better sex although the actual smoking part decreases blood flow which will inhibit a healthy libido. Overall i think if you eat healthier and exercise regularly, you can avoid ED. For me, smoking before is nice, but like mentioned above, some strains don't work as well and can make one too distracted/not in the "primal" head-space.

You mention how some strains aren't really suited to sex, but don't seem to consider that there are strains that would do the opposite?
If you know the strain doesn't allow you to feel *primal* lol, then obviously don't smoke them before clocking on to the job.
I reckon that the modern legal market sells weed that looks great, but doesn't live up to the promise.
High LVL of uninteresting and mediocre effects.

Various cannabis chemotype are able to compare with all modern drugs.
Stimulant, sedative, muscle relaxant and sex drug.
African landraces tend to be quite stimulating, maybe give them a go.
If you don't think weed is aphrodisiac, you just haven't smoked enough weed yet
