G`day Chana
How are you going brother? Thanks for your response, answered my questions precisely .
Do your T5s give off much heat ? I like to use mutiple 25w CFLs ,tho after experimenting I found for best results the bulb should be within 2 cm of the plants for vigourous growth ,which requires constant monitoring to keep the leaves burning from touching the bulb [All good if you have the time .Not recommended for buzy / lazy prople ]
So Chana whats your plan with this lot ie how big will they be when flowered ,do you intend to breed this variety? How many plants per square foot / metre are you planning also how many watts per m/ft ?
Thanks for sharin .
Elmer Bud .
Hi EB,
You are most welcome and I enjoy seeing your post on the boards, especially in one of my journals.
Well if all goes to plan, and I dont get robbed, raided, or struck with another private members bil, acts of terrorism or catastrophic weather events... I am going to flower out in my smallest space first. I built a couple turbo tents with 2K in each. I will hopefully make the best observations and selections there. I also would like to recreate the line to keep for my collection, share with sick friends that cant afford proven pedigree or trade with some others.
I am fortunate to have larger blooming rooms. Ultimately, they will go in a 6k room and grown to trees. No side light or fancy stuff, just cross beams and 8 to 12 plants in a 4x8 table under 2k of light using verzontial reflectors (shout out to Dynamite an Medicine Man for that one). In Canada growing with exemption, I try to be mindful of blooming plant numbers.
As to the CFL's and the T5's thanks for the info man.
I like CFL's but I do prefer the t5's. Here is a picture of my mother room it has 6 t5 4x4 fixtures and a 1000k mh on a right rail. I try to cycle the lights every 18 hrs, so the room is 24hrs on but each section only gets directly light for 18hrs a day. This helps a little with heat and cuts my mother room electrical consumption in half which means I probably save about 75 dollars a month by doing that. So far the plants dont seem to mind and they are a very light and lush green. When all my rooms are filled, this room runs at about 29 degrees. Like to get it to a 23, but I will settle for 27 degrees.
Heat is a deficiency that I cope with. When running larger indoors, it is always there. But with time and budget, it gets cooler and my best crops our in this coming season, Canadian winter.
Here is another pic of my seedling and cloning rack. The top shelf has 2 T5's 4 footer bulbs (soon to add another 3 more tubes). The second shelf has two CFL 4 foot fixtures and the bottom shelf has 4 CFL fixtures. I would like to swap the second and bottom row to T5's, when time and budget allow.
Thanks for saying hello,
Chana
