"early haze"-question about lineage

hey there,

i recently have won an auction with "early queen x afghan haze" and
i've been wondering about one little thingy here. the description reads:

"Early Queen x Afghan Haze -
25% Early Pearl, 25% Skunk, 25%Afghan, 25% Haze (Thai/Columbian/Mexican)"

i get that percentages are not an optimal way of describing parentages.

even less for phenotypical expression over genotypical genetic makeup
as we have noticed with hazeAC for example. a 50% haze makeup with
a more higher percentual expression of the favored phenotype due to
the selections that shantibaba did.

but this is not a question of percentages, it is a question about actual
parentage that was used in the early haze.

what is the afg. haze mated with?
"early skunk" or "early queen"?

it reads like "early skunk" was mated with "afghan haze" to create "early haze"
because 25% EP and 25% skunk in the final cross would be "early skunk", not
"early queen". i'm a bit confused and appologize for my momentary ignorance.

could please somebody (maybe even shanti) help me with understanding this?
i'm fairly new to the original genetics and i would like to be informed correctly.
maybe i am not the only one wondering and it could help others with the issue
to read the answer to this question on this "early haze"-forum.

many greetings
to everyone,
SAN

Hi Santero,

I'm growing Early Haze outdoors this season, it is a nice, strong strain so far. First time I've grown it. From reading the strain descriptions, the one for Early Queen reads:

Heritage:
Early Queen

Category:
The Naturals - Old school genetics

Family of breed:
Early Californian blends with a touch of Mexican, Early Pearl x Early Girl xSuper Skunk

I think the lineage of EQ is coming from Nevil's work.

Hope this helps,
Bh

it does, mate. thank you. are you starting a report on those?

i'd love to see them outdoors. i will run them indoors, but do not know yet
when. i have so much on my plate. so many beans, so little space and time.
i would like to report on mine over here, when the time comes to pop them.

:)

further on my initial question:

the description reads like it was "early skunk x afghan haze". i mean,
when only using the "%"-description as a parentage-referrence from
the "early haze"-page: Early Haze (Early Queen x Afg. Haze)

i believe "early queen" would read more complicated than "25%EP, 25%Skunk".
i'm a noob with this "old school" parentages and want to learn that stuff right.

i am hoping that my best bet to get the right answers is on shantis board :)

"early skunk x afghan haze" or "early queen x afghan haze" would both be
really stellar ... i would just like to know for sure what i will be adding to my stash.

Well...you're probably at the right place to ask that question, I really don't know the answer.

I went with Early Haze (Early Queen x Afghan Haze) because I saw some grows in this forum and the concern for me was finishing time. I wanted to grow a haze outdoors.

I do have a thread here but it's a little light on the pictures.http://https://www.mrnice.nl/forum/early-haze/10265-early-haze-outdoors.html

looking very good imo. (the angel hearts as well, mate :)).

my reasoning was similar to yours. i'm looking for a nice and easy haze-adventure
and am looking very forward to find something in those seeds. only heard the best
about shantis gear and only tried NLSk so far (with very satisfying results).

maybe i just pm shantibaba and wait til he finds the time to answer.
don't want to bother him, though.

Hi Santero,

I attached an MNS Strain post at the bottom that was found on the internet. Hope it helps.

i have seen lemarcels straintree and think it is a really good referrence.
thank you, c2288. i know the parentage of early queen. the %-descrition
on the "early haze"-site just reads not like EQ, more like "early skunk".

maybe shanti should loose the percentual informations, since noobsters only get con-
fused by reading the real percentages and experienced growers feel "tricked" by the
percentual amounts the site is telling to make clear what shanti was selecting for.

my guess is it may just be a typo. of course, EQ is the mother and the percetual
informations on the description-site (that lead to believe that early skunk is the
mom of early haze) are just a blip.

writing a pm to the man himself right now ... end of confusion soon.

Hi Santero,

I think there has been some confusion with some of the descriptions in the strains list (%'s and/or strains used). There have been a lot of discussions about them on the boards pertaining to whats really what. Shanti has even mentioned some updating needs to be done.

I researched the parents used for the cross of Early Haze (EQ x AfgHz) before I got it and thats why I sent you the info about Early Queen.

Shanti should get back to you if you ask and others will probably chime in here.

i have researched them before buy as well, but noticed the
blip in the description on the ealrly haze-site after the buy.

i thought maybe it could be significant to others as well and i initially thought
i could have something to do with the actual plants used in the cross, but i now
believe it to merely be a blip in the description only. lots of them on the site, btw.

shantibaba should get rid of this percentual information, imho & name the genetics,
elaborate on what the strain will do or what to look for. that makes more sense, imo.
or "just" go to complete detail (... okay, that is kind of impossible, i understand that).

@betterhalf
cool thing, that shantibaba noticed it and said it needs
to be fixed. now would be a great time to do this, imo :)

i will keep looking at your thread and do wish you a
nice yield and some happy plants til then, my mate.

@Joe King Park
woah, some nice ladies + great pictures, mate. i love the branching on the 3rd pic.
nice plants. i sure know, i do not need to be concerned. thank you for sharing these
beauties, joe :)

hi

i once compared "early haze" with "early skunk haze". when i try to ignore the % (maths anyway a pitfall for a stoned stoner :D ) i come to the conclusion that: "early haze" is early queen x afg/haze and "early skunk haze" is early skunk x nl5/haze.

i could see that sb wants to make it perfect without telling evrything. and smoking his stuff you will sooner then later don`t see the wood for the trees, if you try to get the % right. may also fit to himself. :D

greetz

shantibaba has written me back and explained it :)
basically what was said by all of you helpful people.

the lineage is like it is described on the sites, but
the percentual info is merely a referrence ... a re-
presentation of his selection, so to speak.

naturally:
early skunk haze = early skunk x afghan haze
early haze = early queen x afghan haze

now i get the way he describes his lines and i hope this helps others also.
F the %'s! one has to very carefully read what he writes about the strain
to get to the bottom of things.

thanks for your kind help, shantibaba.
