![]() I was recently reading some posts "elsewhere" that mentioned the old red/blue and gold seals.. and how this was probably one of the earliest "marketing by name" schemes employed in the uk scene I wasnt able to post "elsewhere" so I couldnt add this... I remember well that we used to get all kind of gold stamps too, my fave ever peice of that kind of hash carried an "Elephant" stamp - subsequently "elephant black".. as well as that many bars back then came with an AK47 stamped or emblazoned on them.. my guru at the time informed me that this was to signify that the sale of one bar represented one additional rifle for the Mujahadin. Something I was never all that happy about, but on the other hand, if you've ever bought any kind of import then you're probably fuelling someones war somewhere...so, the original AK47 or what?

I should think climate and location(soil types etc) could also dictate the colours experienced in hash ..
I would definately agree temperature makes a big difference , and many folks i see are making hash in cooler climates which is a little more forgiving as far as a slow drying process goes , what the cooler climate water hash makers get away with as far as curing etc ,, we cant in the tropics , humidity and heat is not kind to hashish if its not dried properly initially . I make quite a lot of hash each year and have seen blonde hash only the odd time , mostly from indoor grown herb .. The hash i make from the outdoor herb is most often brown , black or a red colour , mostly dark bording on black ... now and then we will get marbled hash, which is usually very good quality .. Mother shabooboo , there used to be some very nice hash around those parts in the 80s , was always a hash season once the greenery dried up if i recall .. something very cool these days is we can make hash quite a lot better than what we used to toke in those days and in the comfort of our homes , doesnt get much better than that .. ill dig up some hash pictures if anyone is interested .... |

hi Donald Mallard
hope all is well I agree growing conditions and location can affect color in hash and temps making a big difference as well in the final product i was wondering how to you keep and smoke your hash , loose form or pressed? Quote:
I remember seeing some comparison bud and macro pics from uv treated vs untreated plants from an experiment done by a fellow grower and the uv-treated plants had more amber and violet-red colored resin/trichs so maybe the difference in color between your indoor vs outdoor buds are due to this since you are in an area with strong uv radiation? btw would love to see some of your hash pics when you have time to dig some up

Id agree there L33t , i talked with bubble man about it and he mentioned the only place he had seen the marbled stuff like i had was in the tropical hash they made in jamaica , so guessing it is as you say uv light affecting the colours of the trichs , i should do a bit of closer photography to see whats going on this year down at that level ,, new camera and lenses at the ready ..
anyhows heres a few shots youll be able to see some colouration with ,, unlike shots you will see from some folks where their resins didnt dry before pressing ,, this is actually the colour ... |
