Diff between NL5 x Afghan and Ortega??

-Hey guys, I was looking into Ortega and NL5 x Afghan. Both look sweet, but I was wondering what the difference between the two are.
-The reason Im wondering is, Ortega is NL1 x NL5 right?? Both NL1 and NL5 are mainly Afghan inbred lines, so thus Ortega is mainly Afghan. Then when I look at NL5 x Afghan, NL5 is mainly afghan and afghan is just that afghan. So NL5 x Afghan is mainly Afghan...
-Anyways, Im interested in both, but if anyone can clear up the genetics for me I would be most appreciative.

NL1 = ortega father?

NL5 = NL x afghan father?

I've got 2 ortega on the go, can't wait to get them flowered, I just waited 2 months for 2 dreamtime males....

Made me ponder the difference for a while aswell wildcat. But then i noticed that the nl5xafghan is actually nl5xafg/skunk.
And there is magic in them, pure magic!

the original ORTEGA was from MEXICAN genetics while the other is from dutch passion NL#5 = hybrid of NL from the usa and a haze and the afghani is from the middle east. over the years what is now called ORTEGA is any1's guess as the original was a sativa and is now an indica DOM.

its like blueberry which started as a sativa and is now 80% indica. the same happened to delat and cherrybomb to fit the north american commercial market.

where the skunk comes from i have no idea as this would be a much later hybrid

I think same thing...whats difference between this two strains...which one i should get one...someone mentioned in other thread that Ortega is more potent than NL5xAfghan...but I noticed that NL5xAfghan is more high yielding and favorful than Ortega ? I dont know but im still looking for that answer too.

Not that it's definitive proof of anything, but shanti's strain listing gives the both a "5" for potency, but gives slightly higher ratings to NL5/Afg in both taste/aroma and yield.

From the grow reports I've seen, I wouldn't conclude Ortega to be more potent.

Shanti told me when it was released that Ortega was AfgT x Ort15, but the strain description says NL#1 x NL#5. Either those are one and the same, or one is incorrect. Only Shanti or Nevil can answer that.
