Medman & SSH

Medman is at 2 weeks from germination. SSH started a week behind. Haven't used height control for many grows indoors, so should be fun! Seeds were soaked 24hrs and planted directly to soil, in styro cups with aluminum foil folded around bottom to catch run off. Am growing 4 other strains from old,old seeds and those are rockwool planted into soil cups. All the medmen popped and thought 2 SSH weren't going to show, but, here 8 days after planting they have bashed up thru the medium, with soil on their heads. Was happy to see them as they were almost thrown away.
All started under daylight soft white floros. The Medman went to MH light last night and the rest will follow today. Even the 2 late girls. Will post photo of my happy group when all are under MH. Think there are @27 plants total to start the grow. I make a lot of mistakes in my grows You'll see!

MM @2weeks-Will be sexed within 2 weeks.SSH a week after that and then all to 12/12.

MM starting to show sex this morning!! 1 girl (the largest plant, surprise), and 1 boy. Gonna pot up the medman today (not the male), and expect all sexed within a couple days. That's 19 days from germination to show sex, an excellent trait. The've nearly doubled in height in the past week.
EDIT- potted them (6 MM), that's the male still in the 16oz cup, against the wall. Will keep it around for a while to induce more females. Front left is the known female. Really enjoy watching them sex up. Especially helpful in keeping plant footprint smaller under light.

All Medman showed sex before day 20 veg. 1 male and 6 female. Unless the balance of the crop (SSH included) have a high male ratio, will have to bring out more light. Oh, the curse of extra females!!! Tied down the tallest MM, last night and will tie down 4 more tonight all except one showing front left picture, nice short pheno, will try to grow without training/topping. You can see (i hope, poor picture taking, will do better), the male is still languishing in the 16oz styro cup at top right of picture. Bet the roots are filling up that cup. See the way the leaves are indicating root stress? Sum up- so far the Medman are vigorous, varied in size/height and easy to sex early. Probably next update will have Medman basking under one light and bushing up. Crop will go to 12/12 all at one time, so MM should see extra veg time.

Medgirls are in training for height control (5 of 6), one gonna grow unrestricted hopefully. These are some of the tallest plants i've grown to this point in the grow. SSH right behind though only one of those is tall so far. Will probably go @ another week of training before 12/12 and will post pic at that point. MM under 600hps now, all others still under 400mh. The tallest MM should be a beauty, it's got 9 tops competing for dominance. Entire grow is in final containers now. Final grow will be 3X600HPS. If these MM bush out too large, will add 400hps. The curse of high female ratio.

First mistake is having too many plants for my intended setup. Second was thinking Medman was a shorter plant and starting them earlier than balance of grow. Third was walking in front of the fan with perlite in a large bowl and watching it spray all over the grow room. I did only make them once
Here are a couple pics of Medman: First is moving from MH to HPS after tie down. Second is from last night, under the 600hps. Will go to 12/12 this coming weekend. The Medman will have numerous tops as 5 are trained and one is a la natural. The SSH are still under the MH (only one being trained, that will be my next mistake probably), and will go to 600hps this weekend into 12/12. Let's see if I can keep under 6' in flower

Here are the SSH, still under MH and just got their first feeding of fish emulsion. Already released the tall one in back from training, last night, and the main cola has taken right over. Tomorrow, big day, move out mh, add one more 600, set up 3rd 600 to expand to in a couple days, and set timer to 12/12. You might see the Medman in back ground under hps, they are wild and sativa looking, while to my eye, the SSH appear more Indica dom. Though the one male SSH had very, very thin leaves. Interestingly the male showed last. Both Mr. Nice strains, sexed in less than 3 weeks from germ. This is a 6 strain grow (2 strains 1 plant each), using up 4+ year old seeds.
