Maybe you can use the insulation inside and on top of the hole or just on top if needed .It would make it easier to get to the generators if you need to.Rather then pileing dirt on a board to cover it . I am sure the in the ground idea will be alot cheaper and take up less space. And the only thing you need to bring to the spot is a shovel.
