M.Tyson is an extreme example and obviously has serious mental issues to be filled with so much rage.

Everyone responds differently to medicine and toxins, so it's possible that some may have adverse reactions, but cannabis is still safer than all over-the-counter medicine and hasn't ever killed anyone to my knowledge. Overdoses are mostly from pills alone or mixed with alcohol, both perfectly legal.

I've used antidepressants for years and cannabis has only improved the effect. Before I was on them cannabis saved my life in really bad times and it also allowed me to stop drinking. I can say from experience that alcohol mixed with antidepressants can have a very bad effect.

Thanks for sharing hhhg, and I'll have to disagree that he is an extreme case. There are a lot of people dealing with child abuse issues. He is just high profile. Abuse can lead to depression in later adulthood.
This is a good topic at least for all of us who may have to take an anti depressant to be aware that it MAY interact adversely with cannabioids. Looking forward to more opinions and anybody experiences with both. Thanks GW

I've been on anti-depressents since the age of 16 in combination with some anti-anxiety medication...currently i'm on Paxil, Remeron, Neurontin and Klonopin...my dosages have gone down dramatically and there was a point when i was on much more meds...since adding good indica's to my daily routine my medication has dropped dramatically and i've been able to cope with the severe anxiety/panic attacks i've had for almost 15 years...when i first tried cannabis about 6 years ago it had a drastic impact on my medication, finding the right strains which are for me good Afghani's and Northern Lights have been extremely helpful and i've found a fairly indica-dominant haze hybrid to be the absolute premier medicine because it doesn't have the tendency to tire you out which can happen if you smoke too much indica all during the day...also i've found moderation is important with anxiety issues and cannabis...if you smoke too much it can actually have the opposite effect so if you use cannabis for medical purposes my motto is stop puffin when the symptoms are gone...meaning if you pack a pipe and feel good after 4-5 hits then put it down, smoking another 5 probably isn't gonna make you feel better and it could create some adverse effects in my experience...i smoke 3-4x a day normally with the occasional 2x a day depending on my symptoms and the pot has really helped me deal with the severe abuse i recieved as a child from my parents...it seems to allow me to talk to my therapist about it in much greater detail without me going into a straight anxiety attack and i normally smoke before sessions that will deal with the really "heavy" issues in my life and it seems to allow me to see myself in a more clear lens and thus analyze and evaluate what can be done proactively in my life besides meds/cannabis...hope it helps, GIL

I meant that Tyson's problems seem to go beyond depression. He was accused of rape, abusing his wife, and he bit a guys ear off.

I Must Agree That Post Traumatic Stress Disorders Can Develop At Very Early Ages Of Child Development .
Abuse Of Any Form Breaks The Victims Ability To Trust People Again , Whilst At The Same Time Killing The Inner Child Within Us All ( Treatment Can Help You Get In Touch With Your Inner Child Again With Cognitive Counselling

I Have Been On Prozac , Zoloft , And Since 2000 I Had Been Taking 150 MG's Of Effexor ( Venaflaxine ) Daily.
SSRI's ( Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors ) Are Particularily Useful In Patients Who Have Used Drugs Other Than Cannabis In The Past Which Has Stripped The Amount Of Dopamine And Seratonin In The Brain.
Alcohol , A Depressant , And Probably The Most Dangerous Drug On Our Planet Can Induce Acute Depression On It's Own , But Mixed With Anti Depressants ( Both Old Trycyclic ( MAOI ) And The Newer SSRI's Can Be FATAL !!
Over The Course Of This Year I Have Stopped Taking Anti Depressants And Have Lowered My Valium Intake By 280 MG's A Week
The Cannabis I Am Now Taking Is Much More Pleasureable , And More Effective Than Morphine !!
Marijuana And Antidepressants DO Mix , IME
Alcohol Does'nt Mix Well With Anything I Know Of ( With The Exception Of Christmas Pudding And White Sauce )
JKP- ( Survivor- ACOA )

Yes,hhhg. I do get your point. i do feel his symptoms are common in a lot of people and put in same positions possibly may react the same way...Not every day there is heavy weights like him with the background he had. i have sympathy for these suffering souls because I am one also. Some have good guidance after the fact and turn out to be exceptional in there life dealings while others can turn into monsters of our society.imo but that's just meGw

Thank you JoeKP, So I am not alone. The valium never seem to me me much good and would take sparingly when I was younger. I have used alot of different drugs 30 years ago,had a bad trip or two and stopped that stuff pretty quick, just to hard on the head, then there was the booze, then there was a recovery from that then there was the enormous head work that had to be done to live relatively normal( whatever that is). Finally some ssri's ie. Paxil for anxiety attacks and as far as I see the jury is stillm out on whether they mix or don't. I think it helps me smoking except my lungs. friend of Bill W. and member of ACOA GW

Lightbulb Just Like The Song ; The Pills Don't Work Anymore

Hi GW
Valium Is The Second Most Effective Muscle Relaxant ( Orgasms Are The Ultimate Relaxant ).
I Had Been On Valium Since 1989 After Falling Off A Scaffold Whilst Removing Asbestos In Vancouver ( Westcoast Energy Building / Earthquake Building ).
After Being Released From St Pauls I Was On Tylenol#4 And 10 Mg Valiums For A Couple Of Years Before Being Forced To Find Something A Little Stronger
Dialaudid , Demerol (Pethidine) , Grey And Red MST Contin ( Peelers) Finally Moving To The Ultimate Of Sloth; Heroin.
Pain , Wether Physical Or Psychological Has A Negative Effect On Ones Mood , And Loss Of Self Esteem , Self Worth , Motivation , Socialisation Will, More Times Than Not ,Induce Clinical Depression.
In Lancet Magazine , Doctors Are Returning Back To Them Little Yellow Pills Called Amyltriptaline , Which Not Only Quells The Mind , But Also Contains Pain Killing Qualities.
Alcohol Is No Longer A Option (" One's Too Many, And A Thousand Is Never Enough" ) I Personally Consider Myself Allergic To Alcohol And Accept I Have A Faulty Gene Which I Believe Is Responsible For My Disease.
Anti Depressants ( SSRI's ) Have A Tendency Of Making People Lose Their Empathy , And Also Their Character .
Last Night I Was Watching A Show On BBC4 Which Showed New Treatment For Depression By Inserting Electrodes Inside The Brain ( The Same Procedure As Performed On Parkinsons Patients ). Absolutely Incredible Results , Thirty Years Of Chronic Depression Totally Cured
You Can Watch The Show On BBC I-Player ; http://www.bbc.co.uk/i-player
Also On i-player Is A Fascinating Show On How Dangerous Alcohol Is, And How It Would Be Banned Had All The Facts Be Originally Known .
Nowadays I Find The Serenity Prayer As Effective As A Antidepressant
For Anxiety , Legends Ultimate Indica Is A Good Choice Of Strain ( C99 Or Apollo 11 0r Similar Racy Strain Will Amplify Anxiety )
Moderation Is Key ,IMO, And Chemicals From Pharmacuetical Giants Who Spend Millions To Keep Cannabis A Banned Substance Is No Longer Profiting From Me .
In Closing , Life Without Anti Depressants Still Has It's Ups And Downs , But I Am More Up And Aware And Feel That Dark Cloud From Not Doing Nowt For 15 Years Has Lifted
Just For Today , My Fellow Canuck
