Hi everyone I just thought I'd start a new cloning thread. I believe that one of the cloning methods I use is the most simple and easy method known to mankind and I challenge any MNS member to dispute it

OK so here goes. I call this cloning method "Caveman Cloning". You will need a polystyrene cup half filled with ph'd tap water at room temperature, three cuttings, a vegging area (obviously, doh) and that's it!...
![]() Here are three cuttings in said cup and water. They have been rooting for 16 days. I've changed the water about 3 times within them 16 days. ![]() Here are the roots after just 16 days of caveman cloning. This girl is ready to be planted in your medium of choice. I'm using coco mixed with a bit of perlite.

I use soil and a little perlite for my clones, I also do things very quickly, cut from the mother plant, into a glass of fresh tap water, make another new cut on the stem one inch below a node and straight into a little cloning gel then into my medium and back under some low light / reflected light in a warm place. Poor wee thing does not even notice things have changed much lol,,,,,,,, no stress
P.s I also cut big leaves in half!! Roots in 7-9 days. |

Hi Sharky and thanks for sharing your method, oh fellow shark shock grower
![]() I'm sure that caveman cloning's one of the slowest rooting methods but it's by far the simplest way of cloning. Although I'd recommend cutting with clean scissors at 45* angle, I've even ripped of cuttings with my finger nails before and they still rooted, and this is without any cloning gel. If I want clones faster I'd use the rockwool cubes along with clonex in the propagator. Your clones root in 7-9 days huh? Gawd dayum that's mighty fast! The fastest I've ever had roots was in 10 days in rw cubes. GM1

Well I took 3 cuts and placed in water for caveman cloning. I xplanted one of the cuts and kept the other two cuts in water, changing the water every now and then. I still got the other two cuts in water. Remember all I use is ph'd tap water. No additives. (Aerating the water before pouring into cup would also be a good idea. I know an expert grower who goes by this cloning formula: Water+Oxygen=Roots, roots, roots).
I wanna examine the roots and see how they get on if left in the water for a long time before being xplanted. So far the roots are a brilliant white and healthy as. Here's a pic of them I took a coupla days ago... ![]() And today the roots are even longer and have grown considerably! I think this is a perfect way of cloning if you don't want to plant cuts too quickly during a small-medium sized perpetual home grow. GM1
